Summer holiday of a lifetime thanks to art auction

Thanks to the general initiative of a number of Maltese artists, the 15 boys who live at St Joseph’s Home are looking forward to the summer holiday of a lifetime after an auction of the artists’ works reached its target.

The auction, which ran for a month, ended at midnight on Tuesday. Bids on various works of art raised over €8,000 and an additional €2,000 was donated by other generous benefactors.

“We are now right on target,” said organiser Alison Bezzina earlier this week. “All we need is a little more funding to send a couple of carers and for the boys to have some spending money.”

An attempt to raise the remainder will be made on Saturday during a Spinning Marathon at Living Well, Hilton Malta.

The spinning marathon will take the form of three consecutive spinning classes, starting at 8.15am, 9.30am and 10.45am.

The classes will each be an hour-long and will be taught by qualified spinning instructors Celine Fenech Adami, Tania Cluett and Suzanne Grima.

“Spinning is a special form of indoor cycling that has become very popular in Malta and all over the world,” explained the instructors. “The marathon will have a summer theme, including summer music and fresh gym décor. Spinners will also be treated to a free Gatorade, a power bar and a healthy good time.”

Participation in the spinning marathon will be against a minimum donation of €5 per class, and both members and non-members of Living Well Hilton are welcome to join. Bookings for the Hot Summer Spin can be made at the Living Well Reception. For more information call 2373 3401

Monetary donations toward the cause can also be made to APS Bank A/C No. 20000358238 or via SMS on 5061 8068 (for €4.66), 5061 8911 (for €6.99) or 5061 9205 (for €11.65).
