Two different replies to PQ spark investigation

Malta Independent Wednesday, 12 June 2013, 14:22 Last update: about 11 years ago

The Nationalist Party pointed out in a statement that PN MP Marthese Portelli was given two completely different replies to the same parliamentary question.

The PN said that as a result, she yesterday requested the Speaker of the House, Anglu Farrugia, to call an investigation related to Parliamentary Question 2348.

Initially, Dr Portelli asked Health Minister Godfrey Farrugia to  state the names of the consultants, including the persons of trust, who were contributing to the Health Ministry, and what terms of reference were given to these consultants, requesting Dr Farrugia to present in parliament a copy of their signed contracts or appointment letters.

Dr Portelli was provided with a reply in writing, presented in parliament, which stated that “presently, there’s only one consultant”.

According to the PN, it results that the reply that was uploaded online was totally different to the one given in parliament since it was stated that there were no consultants working under the Health Ministry’s remit.

The PN asked why the reply had been changed, calling for an immediate investigation so that the House may have a clear answer on what had really taken place.

The Speaker of the House agreed that an investigation should be conducted, confirming that an investigation was going to take place.
