Replacement of lost or stolen ID cards

Malta Independent Monday, 17 June 2013, 10:44 Last update: about 11 years ago

The Commissioner of Police and the Chief Electoral Commissioner, remind Maltese persons who lose their Malta identity card or have their identity card stolen that they need to first lodge a report of loss/theft at a Police Station.  Presentation of another photo identification document would be of assistance.

A copy of the report or an acknowledgement of said report is to be taken personally to the ID Cards Office at Evans Building in Valletta where a sworn statement or solemn declaration would be administered, a fresh digital photo is taken and a substitute ID Card is issued at the same time, at an all inclusive fee of €3.49.

Office hours are Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 2pm; Wednesdays also from 3pm to 6pm; Saturdays from 7.30am to 10.30am.
