Manchester City are closing in on signing Spanish striker Alvaro Negredo, the Daily Express reports.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini has just raided Sevilla in a £15million move for Jesus Navas and former team-mate Negredo, 27, is now set to join him at the Etihad in a deal that could cost as much as £28m, despite suggestions of an £18m buy-out clause.
Atletico Madrid were interested in Negredo, but negotiations resumed with City yesterday and they are hopeful of finalising the contract.
WestHam had a £14.5m for the 27-year-old turned down last month, but the forward is intent on leaving Sevilla this summer.
