A woman was grievously injured after crashing into a tree today at about 1.15am, in Burmarrad Road, St Paul’s Bay.

Preliminary investigations found that the woman, 42, of Naxxar, was driving a Toyota Spacio towards Mosta when she crashed into a tree on the left side of the street.

Passersby who stopped to assist the woman said they saw the woman step out of the car, walk towards the rear of the vehicle and drop to the ground, where she was found by the police.

The woman was hospitalised and certified to have suffered grievous injuries.

The car was extensively damaged.
