A young man is in critical condition after an accident in Sir Temi Zammit Street, Mgarr.

The police said that at 4.45am a Ford Fiesta had crashed into a barrier. The driver, a 20-year-old of Santa Venera, who was on his way to Zebbiegh, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a barrier before the car ended up on a front terrace.

The man was taken to Mater Dei Hospital where he was found to have suffered grievous injuries and is in critical condition.
