A diver is in danger of loss of life after being hit by a propeller today, at about 12.10 p.m., at il-Ponta tal-Irqiqa, Comino.

Preliminary investigations found that the man, 45, was diving with five others, all Finnish, when he was overcome by strong currents which pushed him towards the same boat he had travelled in.

He was administered first aid by one of his diving buddies, a doctor, and hoisted aboard the same boat. He was rushed to Paradise Bay, Cirkewwa, where he found an ambulance awaiting his arrival.

The diver was subsequently hospitalised and certified to be in a critical conditions due to the injures he sustained on his upper body.
