Romanian man jailed for 14 years for importing drugs

A Romanian man was today jailed for fourteen years and fined €25,000 for importing cocaine and heroin.

The man was acting suspiciously at the Malta International Airport and by means of further investigations by Customs Officials and the Drug Squad Police, the drugs were found in the false bottom in his suitcase.

The man was found to be in possession of over one kilo of heroin worth 45,000 and 900 grams of cocaine worth 68,461.

The man came to Malta via Amsterdam.

He pleaded guilty in terms after reaching a plea bargain agreement.
