A man is in danger of loss of life following an accident at a quarry today, at about 2pm, in Triq l-Imgarr, l-Imgarr, the police said.

Preliminary investigations found that the man, 27, who lives in Manikata, limits of Mellieha, was driving a truck carrying boulders when it skidded and began rolling backwards as he was climbing a slope to unload.

As the driver began climbing out of the cabin, he was caught by the vehicle and dragged down with it before it overturned.

The truck continued sliding on its side until it came to stop in the gravel on the edge of the slope.

The man was assisted by his colleagues until the arrival of an ambulance, which conveyed him to hospital, where he was found to be in a critical condition.
