Free access to Valletta in afternoon and during weekends as of Monday

As announced in the 2014 Budget speech, the Government, through Transport Malta, is implementing the first measure to encourage more people to visit Valletta in the afternoons on weekdays, and all day during the weekend.

As of 2 December 2013, no CVA charges will apply for vehicles accessing the charging zone after 1400hrs on weekdays and all day on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays. It is to be noted, however, that those accessing the charging zone in the morning or before 1400hrs on weekdays and staying more than 30 minutes will continue to pay the same charges as today.

Access Fees as of 2 December 2013

The applicable charging fees are being summarised below:

•       Fees apply for vehicles entering the charging zone between 0800hrs and 1400hrs on weekdays at €0.82 per hour (or part thereof) up to a maximum of €6.52 per day.

•       Entrance is FREE for vehicles entering the zone after 1400hrs on weekdays and all day on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays

•       Entrance is FREE for vehicles staying for up to 30 minutes

•       10% discounts apply for pre-payments or direct debit arrangements

•       Late payments apply for unpaid bills
