A 40-year-old man was jailed for three-and-a-half years today, a day after he pleaded guilty to carrying out ten thefts in two months.

Gianluca Torres, who hails from Sicily, was accused of carrying out the thefts between September and November.

This was not Mr Torres’ first brush with the law: last year, he was jailed for 18 months after he admitted to stealing from the donation box at the Millennium Chapel in Paceville.

Police Inspector Trevor Micallef prosecuted.
