New bus routes have been announced for Malta and Gozo following discussions involving the government and Transport Malta.

The changes were made after the government took over the running of the public transport sector at the turn of the year after Arriva pulled out.

The government will be launching a call for expressions of interest, with Minister Joe Mizzi saying that the new operator is expected to be selected as quickly as possible. The call was expected by the end of last week but technical and legal issues have delayed it.
