Portomaso Marina awarded five gold anchors

Tumas Group said that as part of the Yacht Harbour Association (THYA) Gold Anchor Scheme, Portomaso Marina is the first and only Maltese marina to have been awarded the highest five gold anchor rating.

This prestigious award is granted to select marinas by The Yacht Harbour Association, a prominent organisation that was established to develop the marine industry by specifically supporting Marina members of the British Marine Federation. The award is recognised worldwide and international luxury yachters consider this award as a guarantee of excellence.

Owned by Tumas Group and managed by David Azzopardi of Boatcare Trading Ltd, Portomaso Marina’s three basins boast 1.6km of waterfront, and space for 110 fully serviced berths. The stern-to berths are divided between those for motor boats, sailing boats or small pleasure craft. The Marina is the only eco-friendly marina with a car-free, peaceful and clean environment in Malta, and is regularly patrolled by marina staff and security.

In its report, the THYA rated the Ambience and Administration; Regulations and Directives; Environmental Compliance; Berth construction and services.

In its findings, the report stated that: “Surrounded by copious restaurants and impressive local features the location offers great access to Spain, France and Italy. It is something similar to Monte Carlo marina; Portomaso (Marina) offers luxurious berthing in a fairy-tale setting.

“The location is peaceful, clean and tidy. Standards for service, facilities and staff are extremely high; there are not many areas which could benefit from improvements; The security and staff that I met were impressive and that reflects well on the marina management.”

Portomaso Marina Manager David Azzopardi said: “We are very pleased to have achieved the highest standard of the gold anchor awards scheme.

“Having increased our focus on customer service in recent years this award is even more important than ever.

“Now we have to strive hard to ensure that we not only maintain, but keep improving the high level of service we provide to customers.”
