Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture Roderick Galdes today announced an "important achievement" for the Maltese potato sector.

Mr Galdes said that a Swedish company has agreed to start purchasing between 25,000 to 50,000kgs of Maltese potatoes this year.

In a statement, the Parliamentary Statement said that the Swedish company decided to start importing the “genuine Maltese product,” with the potential for a further increase in purchases next year.

Mr Galdes welcomed the positive news for the sector.
