Charles Mangion returned to Parliament this evening after he successfully contested the by-election to fill the seat vacated by Marie Louis Coleiro Preca. Mr Mangion was sworn in as an MP at the start of today’s Parliamentary sitting.
Dr Mangion was elected with 2,201 votes in the first count. The quota was 1,959. The Luqa notary, who had briefly served as acting party leader and opposition leader in 2008, was unseated from parliament last year by his nephew Silvio Schembri.
He is now expected to resign his post as Enemalta chairman.
