The Forum Unions Maltin said its 11 union members are not prepared to be treated as second class when compared to other federations representing workers. The 12,000 Forum members are being discriminated against, the Forum said in a statement.
The Forum congratulated the government for removing discrimination in other sectors, but the same thing is not happening with regard to unions.
The government has not yet addressed the question of Forum representation on the OHSA, ILO and Gozo Regional Committee. The Forum was being treated as second class in this, it said.
Other confederations were invited to attend the ILO conference for three weeks while Forum’s participation was limited to one week and pay the rest of the expenses. Forum is requesting a meeting with the Prime Minister to discuss the issue.
