The minister responsible for the national broadcasting television station PBS, Manuel Mallia, said that the government will be supporting both financially and logistically a general assembly for Euro-Mediterranean radio and television stations, to be held in Malta next April.

This follows a European Broadcasting Union conference which was held here last year where over 200 participated in the conference.

Around 200 representatives from 27 Member States will be participating along with Arab States of the Persian Gulf and Middle East, including the EBU and the ASBU (the Arabian Broadcasting Union).

The conference will discuss how cooperation in the public broadcasting sector can be strengthened.

The Mediterranean audiovisual association COPEAM, has decided to hold a training course in Malta in September for young journalists hailing from Mediterranean countries while the national broadcasting station, PBS, ha sbeen assigned the task to handle the preparations tied to the course.

In the beginning of October, at the request of theEBU, PBS will also host the Eurovision Academy where experts in the field will discuss the prospects tied to this professional development. Towards the end of the same month, at the request of Italian TV station RAI, another conference will be held for Mediterranean country broadcasting sector representatives.
