Stilettos, rusty deck-chairs and hundreds of cans and bottles collected at the Beach Clean-Up operation

Approximately 50 international delegates participating at the 2014 JCI European Conference rolled-up their sleeve or rather got into their trunks and bikinis and jumped into the sea of St. George’s bay. The operation lasted for 2 hours under the scorching sun however the delegates braved on.

With the supervision of the Malta Professional Diving School Association and the support of the Vodafone Foundation, MSV Life and Wasteserv Malta Ltd, the group of volunteers collected several bottles and cans from the seabed as well as ladies shoes and rusted deckchairs.

With this operation taking place, the volunteers were able to appreciate the importance of conserving marine life and the negative impact of waste on the ecosystem.
