Man who overdosed on day he was released from prison given probation

Roderick Montesin, a 25-year-old man from Siggiewi was put on probation for three years after being found guilty of drug possession.

A Court heard how Montesin overdosed on heroin at his Siggiewi home on the day he was released from prison.

Upon his release, Montesin first went home, and then headed to Hamrun to buy the heroing.

After buying the drugs, Montesin then went to meet his girlfriend and signed in at his local police station.

He was found passed out on his bed by his sister, who said he was “purple” and short of breathe.

Magistrate Natasha Galea Sciberras noted that Montesin cooperated with the Police. The Magistrate warned him of the consequences of breaching his probation.
