Konrad Mizzi gives another Enemalta jobs guarantee

Malta Independent Monday, 21 July 2014, 21:03 Last update: about 11 years ago

Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi reiterated his declaration that Enemalta employees will retain their jobs, their seniority and pension rights this evening.

Speaking during a session of the Consideration of Bills Committee, Mr Mizzi said that Enemalta employees will be managed by a newly set up  company – Engineering Resources Ltd – a deal which had been approved by trade unions. This company, he said, will be owned by the government and will be responsible for the management of 1,500 employees.  Engineering Resources records, he said, will be backdated, in terms of employees’ start date being listed as the same date that they joined Enemalta. The session was largely technical, with the PN representatives playing things very cautiously, remarking that they had only begun to analyse documents as they had no prior access to them.
