Renald Hayman, 31, from Senglea, today was remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to seriously injuring and threatening his former girlfriend Maria Vassallo, also from Senglea.
On 15 July, Hayman allegedly used violence when he held his former girlfriend against her will and threatened to kill her. He is also accused of slightly injuring Vassallo on a separate date.
The 31-year-old also faces accusations of being drunk in public and breaching public peace, as well as violating a probation order imposed by on him on 15 April of this year.
Magistrate Aaron Bugeja ruled that the accused is remanded in custody, and ordered the director at the corrective facilities at Kordin to ensure Hayman undergoes a rehabilitation programme.
Dr Lucio Schriha appeared for the accused, Dr Franco Debono appeared parte civile for Maria Vassallo.
