Malta Independent Friday, 25 July 2014, 10:38 Last update: about 11 years ago

Liverpool are hoping to hijack Manchester United’s move for Juventus star Arturo Vidal by matching their £42.5million bid for the player.

United have made Vidal their top transfer target this summer and the club was confident of landing him with a mega bid.

However, the Chilean press now report that Liverpool have firmly entered the race for the player and are set to lodge an offer worth £42.5million.

El Mercurio says Real Madrid are also in for the player but don’t have the funds to make a deal happen, leaving just Liverpool and United in the race.
