Libyan embassy silent on situation in Tripoli

Malta Independent Friday, 25 July 2014, 12:15 Last update: about 11 years ago

The Libyan Embassy in Malta has adopted a silent stand on what is taking place in the Libyan capital Tripoli, as the situation there escalates, more foreigners want to leave and embassies are shutting down.

This morning, this newspaper contacted the Libyan Embassy to ask what it had to say regarding the situation in Tripoli.

All we got was a “no comment” and “I have nothing to say”.

These few words were all that was said after being put through to four different people who didn’t want to identify themselves.

Till today the Libyan Embassy does not have an ambassador but a Charges d’Affaires – Mr Huseen N. Benown.

More Maltese are expected to return to Malta from Libya this evening on a private flight.

The Maltese Parliament will this evening be discussing the situation in Libya following a motion presented by the Opposition.
