A Ukrainian man in Malta was found to be in possession of a gun in the Maltese airport on Tuesday, and admitted to charges of illegal possession and importation of a firearm

Ukrainian Oleksander Halkin, 36, a sailor, was on his way back to his homeland however was stopped on Tuesday by security officers. The gun was found in his bag which was going to be placed in the aircraft’s hold.

The gun was seen through an x-ray at the Maltese airport. He was fined €750 and conditionally discharged for six months.
