A young German teenager was plucked from the rough sea by a joint operation which saw the collaboration of police, Civil Protection and AFM whose helicopter managed to save the woman from the sea.

The incident took place in Xwejni, near Marsalforn in Gozo at around 5.30pm. The girl was taken to the Gozo General Hospital.

Two French tourists drowned in the same bay in August last year and a French diver drowned there in October.
