Blogger Daphne Caruana Galizia filed for libel this morning after Freeport's CEO Aaron Farrugia tweeted that she had received €2.5 million in contracts by the Nationalist government.
In his tweet, Mr Farrugia said that the blogger, her husband, and blogger Andrew Borg Cardona had been awarded such contracts.
In her libel suit, Mrs Caruana Galizia argued that such a statement is incorrect and damages her reputation.
In a separate case, Mrs Caruana Galizia filed a libel against Dr Toni Abela, editor of the Labour Party newspaper Kullhadd, after an article on the same newspaper claimed that she and others received €2.5 million in contract money.
