Sirens edge past the Citizens

It was a close affair, with Sirens bagging all three points, to stretch their lead at the top of the  standings. This victory , the second in three matches against Valletta, was obtained by Sirens after a good start by the Citizens. which had them in front till early on after the interval. Then it was the turn of the St. Pauls Bay side to overturn the score, and they kept their noses ahead till the final buzzer.

Valletta went into an early double advantage, , with Sirens reducing their deficit on three occasions, only for Valletta to start the second period two goals in front. Sirens had a period of dominace, when they breached the Citizens' fort three times. to go in front for the first time. Valletta reacted well, with a double strike, which gave them another advantage. Till the interval both sides managed to score again, with Valletta just ahead, midway through the encounter, on an 8-7 score.

After the break the game became tighter, with less chances to score. Valletta went two goals ahead again, but Sirens pushed hrad, to obtain another three goal run, which gave them a slight 10-9 lead, when the last quarter arrived. Sirens gained a double advantage, with a second Christian Presciutti penalty, but the Citizens were still in the match, and they went to within a goal of their opponents. There was still time, and both sides had their occasions, but the score remained the same, and Sirens obtained a precious win.

Presciutti and Csaba Kiss both scored hat tricks for Sirens, and Valletta had Milos Korolija, Daniel Paolella and Michael Rizzo all on two strikes.

M'xlokk draw nearer to M'scala

M'xlokk registered their third victory, in as many matches, against ta Xbiex, to go nearer to the leaders, M'scala, although with a game more. M'xlokk repeated the same score in the first three sessions of play, and they went one better in the last period, to end up as comfortable victors.

A three goal run in the opening session turned the score their way, and another brace of goals in the next session had them on a solid advantageTa Xbiex tried to get more involved in the game, but at the interval they were still 4-6 behind.

Ta Xbiex gamely fought on after the break, but every time they went near, M'xlokk always had a reply, and they went into the last session resting on a good 9-6 advantage. Though Ta Xbiex once more got a goal back, the next minutes of play belonged to M'xlokk, who poured in four goals in a row, to make sure of the result, notwithstanding a Peter Markoch penalty for the losers.

Bence Fulope managed a double hat trick for M'xlokk, and Markoch, netted four times for Ta Xbiex, two of them from penalties.
