Donna Sciberras, a 20-year-old from Floriana was today sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to prostitution and stealing a number of items from a car.
Magistrate Neville Camilleri noted the girl’s colourful criminal record, which includes the theft of a car last year.
Inspector Carlos Cordina told the court that Sciberras had been given a number of chances to mend her ways by the courts.
Up until a few weeks ago she was following a programme with Caritas, which she absconded from while under probation.
The Police were unable to locate her for a number of weeks, before eventually finding her in a street renowned for prostitution.
Magistrate Camilleri told the girl to use her time in prison to wean herself off her drug habit.
