The exploration schooner Tara is currently on expedition in the Mediterranean, from May to November 2014. This mission includes both a scientific component, to study plastic pollution, and an educational component, to raise public awareness about the many environmental issues in the Mediterranean Sea.

Five years after her first visit during the Tara Oceans expedition, the schooner Tara returns to Malta as part of the Tara Mediterranean expedition. Docked at the Pinto wharf in the port of Valletta, Tara will share with the public a film, an exhibition about the oceans, and will welcome scientists and teachers from August 28th to 30th.

- Friday, August 29, 9 to 12am, the exhibition Our Ocean Planet will be open to the public on St

George Square in Valletta, next to Palazz Magistrali

- Friday, August 29 at 6:30pm, briefings for the press will take place aboard Tara, in the presence of

Tara's captain Martin Hertau, the crew, and Dr. Gaby Gorsky, scientific director of the Tara Mediterranean

expedition.

- Friday, August 29 at 6pm, screening of the documentary Planet Ocean (90 min), directed by Yann Arthus

Bertrand and Michael Pitiot, at St James Cavalier in Valletta

- Saturday, August 30 at 8am, departure of Tara to continue scientific studies of plastic pollution at sea.
