For the first time Minister Joe Mizzi has spoken out in Parliament about the trip he made to Spain to hold discussions with the Spanish Autobuses de Leon.Mr Mizzi told MP Toni Bezzina that the Spanish company was the only most preferred candidate in the Expression of Interest and so, according to the minister, there was no risk the meeting could have prejudged one candidate against another.The minister added that because of a big difference in the Public Service Obligation claimed by a candidate in this category, the minister felt that with a sense of responsibility he had to be present during this evaluation to ensure there were not going to be any surprises, as happened to the previous administration.
