The Police today found a body in an advanced state of decomposition in Luqa road, Qormi.

The grim discovery took place at around 4pm.

Police sources said that there is a strong possibility that the body is that of Francis Cauchi, a 54-year-old of Cospicua who was reported missing five weeks ago.

The body found in Qormi was wearing clothes of the same colour that Mr Cauchi was wearing at the time he went missing. 

An autopsy will be carried out Wednesday morning to determine the fause of death.

A magisterial inquiry is under way.
