The PN in Opposition has proposed to the government that it should impose obligatory screening at airports and ports of persons who would have entered EU states from regions considered to be of high Ebola risk, among other proposals.
Shadow health minister Claudio Grech suggested that the isolation wards and the Infectious Disease Unit should be kept separate from the hospital while also proposing that the government should rope in all leading medical associations and unions representing health care workers to participate in a monitoring committee.
A resources register should also be set up in order to register health care workers who are really prepared to deal with an eventual case/s of Ebola in the event it surfaced in Malta.
The PN said that workers should be given more specialised training and adequate gear.
