A Cospicua man who stole a parked vehicle’s four doors in his home town but who had been warned by the courts several times over other past crimes and even given suspended sentences, today was sent to prison for two and the half years after the magistrate felt that the accused could no longer go on ignoring the court’s previous stern warnings.

For the crime involving the theft of the four doors, Magistrate Anthony Vella handed Charlie Brincat, 33, a one year effective prison term but also ordered that the 18 month suspended sentence he received for a separate crime comes into effect.

Brincat admitted to the charges. He told the court he is unemployed and has an alcohol problem.

Police Inspector Robert Said Sarreo prosecuted.
