Facilites for fishermen in Marsalforn are to be improved, Gozo Minister Anton Refalo announced today. The project will be be made possible through the €800,000 of EU funds allocated for the fishing industry.
Hajt ta’ Menqa will be renovated offering more protection for fishermen, the slipway will be reconstructed, and the two existing buildings will be transformed into fully equipped offices. The wharf will be renovated, making it more safe and attractive.
Mr Refalo said that the project is crucial for the fishermen community in Marsalforn, which although represented by a small number, are key to keeping the practice of one of Gozo’s oldest trade alive.
