The third edition of the ELT Malta Conference by the English as a Foreign Language Monitoring Board was launched today, with hundreds of ELT professionals attending.
Addressing the conference, Education Minister Evarist Bartolo stressed upon the importance of raising the standards of English proficiency, to allow Malta to strengthen its competitiveness in the international sphere.
Earlier this year, Dr Bartolo announced that the Education Ministry will collaborate with Cambridge English to raise and maintain standards of English proficiency. Cambridge English will help the ministry to understand the shortcomings of the local context, and come up with ways to address them.
Alan Marsh, who designed courses for English Language teaching was awarded the first Inspiring ELT Professional award. He was nominated by his colleague Pia Zammit.
