Vessel registered in Malta in danger of sinking after it hits rock near Stockholm; causes oil spill

An 85-metre vessel, MV Kertu, registered in Malta has run aground due to bad weather one mile ease of Landsort island coast near Sweden.  The incident resulted in the hull being holed and fuel leakage from the tank of the vessel.

The vessel started to take in water but the crew were evacuated.

Currently members of the Swedish Coast Guard personnel are trying to pump out the water, to save the vessel from sinking. Several vessels of the coast guard have been dispatched on scene.

MV Kertu was built back in 1996, and belongs to Estonian Company Hansa Shipping.
