Prime Minister Joseph Muscat today met his Singapore counterpart Lee Hsein Loong with whom he discussed matters related to energy, health and the Commonwealth.
A Department of Information statement quoted Dr Muscat as saying that he explained how the government is working to make Malta an energy hub. He said Europe is looking at different sources to generate energy to reduce its dependency on gas from a few countries.
The two sides also discussed the possibility of collaboration between the two governments in the health sector. Dr Muscat invited the Singapore PM to attend the Commonwealth summit to be held in Malta next year.
Mr Loong said there were similarities between the two countries, and added that while Malta celebrated 50 years of Independence this year, Singapore will be doing likewise in 2015.
