O positive blood reserves are critically low, the National Blood Transfusion Service said in a post on Facebook.
Speaking with this newsroom, a representative of the Blood Transfusion Service said that donors are coming in however it is not enough to cope with the demand.
O positive is the most common blood type.
The post, also shared on the official Malta Police Force account, says that this morning there was a high demand for blood at Mater Dei Hospital as well as the Gozo General Hospital.
The Blood Transfusion Service, as such, is requesting immediate blood donations.
