COMET LANDING

BERLIN - The final countdown is approaching for one of the most audacious space adventures ever attempted. In less than 24 hours, the European Space Agency will try to land a robot on a comet. The maneuver marks the climax of the unmanned Rosetta probe's decade-long journey to study comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.

IMMIGRATION

BERLIN - A European Union court ruled Tuesday that Germany was within its rights to refuse unemployment benefits to an immigrant from Romania who made no effort to seek work in Germany, a decision that comes amid concern over perceived welfare abuse by migrants from poorer EU nations. German judges sought a ruling from the European Court of Justice after a Romanian woman who arrived in Germany in 2010 sued a job center for refusing to grant her and her young son benefits intended primarily for the long-term unemployed and their children.

TUNISIA-FRANCE

TUNIS, Tunisia - France's interior minister says his country will work with Tunisia to stop their nationals from traveling to fight in Syria and Iraq. Bernard Cazeneuve announced new measures late Monday during a 24-hour visit to Tunisia that included meetings with Prime Minister Mehdi Jomaa and Cazeneuve's counterpart Lotfi Ben Jeddou.

GERMANY-IRAN-NUCLEAR

BERLIN - Germany's foreign minister is pushing for an agreement in negotiations over Iran's nuclear program by a Nov. 24 deadline, saying it is a "make-or-break moment" and another opportunity is unlikely to arise soon. Germany, the U.S. and four other powers have spent years addressing concerns over Iran's nuclear ambitions. However, two days of tough talks ending Monday failed to make major headway toward a final deal.

SWITZERLAND-CRASH

GENEVA - Swiss police say two people died and five others were injured in a crash involving a truck, a Swiss postal bus and a car in northern Switzerland.

BRITAIN-SECRET TRIAL

LONDON - The jury at a semi-secret terrorism trial in Britain has been dismissed, and prosecutors say they will seek a retrial. Jurors had been deliberating for five days in the case of 26-year-old Erol Incedal when they were discharged Tuesday. No explanation was given for the decision.

DENMARK-EARNS-MOLLER-MAERSK

STOCKHOLM - Shipping and oil group A.P. Moller-Maersk has posted a 30 percent increase in quarterly profits as higher freight volumes and rates offset falling oil prices. The Danish company's net profit rose to $1.47 billion in the third quarter, from $1.13 billion a year ago.

BRITAIN-SPICE GIRL

LONDON - Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell has announced her engagement to a Formula One team boss. Halliwell, 42, says in a notice Tuesday in the Times of London that she will wed Red Bull team principal Christian Horner, 40. The announcement did not say when the wedding is to take place.
