A minor earthquake has been registered to the west of Malta and Gozo yesterday just after 1pm.

This was the second earthquake to hit in the vicinity of Malta, 10 days after one was registered in the channel between Malta and Sicily.

That time, the tremor was of a 3.0 magnitude with the epicentre at a depth of 6.4 km.

Yesterday, the tremor was slightly stronger, at 3.5, and it hit 93 miles to the northwest of Valletta, at a depth of 22 kilometres, the site www.emsc-csem.org reports.
