The 25th Anniversary of the signing of the United Nations Convention for the Rights of Children was celebrated at Michael Angelo Refalo collage in Gozo, this morning.

President Marie-Louise Coleiro Precat noted the importance of such a convention, which highlights the fundamental rights of all children around the world. The convention was signed in 1989.  The activity was organized by the Fondazzjoni tal-President Ghall Gid Tas-Socjeta, a foundation which raises awareness about children's rights and promotes the importance of education.

A number of children participated by writing or drawing about how children's rights can be better protected. Last Thursday, a similar activity was held in San Anton Palace in Malta.  In both activities, it was noted, that a number of children send messages about bullying.

Present for the event was Children's Commissioner Helen D'Amato. A publication highlighting children's rights in a simplified manner has been distributed to children.
