President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca this morning launched l-Istrina in Gozo. For the first time, the annual event will also be held in the sister island, between the 20th and 21 of December. The activity will be spread among various localities in Gozo, and the president will be visiting the many locations.
Addressing a press conference this morning, Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca noted that the Malta Community Chest Fund has expenditures of over €230,000 every four weeks, the majority of which fund highly specialised chemotherapy sessions. An outlet of the Fund was also launched in Rabat Gozo, a property donated by entrepreneur Michael Grech. The president lauded Mr Grech for his noble gesture, which will allow Malta Community Chest Fund to operate from Gozo as well, coordinated by Dr Lisa Brook, who is qualified in both the medical and legal sector.
L-Istrina in Gozo will kick off with a mass in Ghajnsielem on Saturday 20th December, with the participantion of hospital patients, and day care centres members. The president will then visit Qala, Nadur, Xewkija and Sannat. On Sunday, she will be going to Zebbug, Ghasri, Kercem, Fontant and San Lawrence. The event will come to an end in Victoria. A number of activities will be held in the parish squares of the locations, and residents will be collecting donations.
