The police are searching for a man who stole around €13,000 in cash and cheques from the office of Sparkle Image, a detergent shop in Gzira.

The incident happened Monday afternoon, at around 5pm, when the man entered the office, where the cash was being counted by a member of staff, grabbed the cash and left. Cheques amounting to €2,000 were also stolen.

The CCTV footage shows the man wearing a Manchester United red t-shirt. He walked up to the first floor where the supermarket offices are located, entered the office and grabbed the money. He went down to the shop area but later went up to the office a second time to take more cash.

Anyone with information is asked to call the supermarket or contact the police.

An inquiry is being held, led by Magistrate Carol Peralta.
