Nigerian man resident in Italy charged with bringing in cannabis to Malta

A 30-year-old Nigerian man, residing in Italy, has been charged with importing and possession of cannabis which was found under circumstances denoting that it was not intended for his personal use.

On 27 November, Mr Johnson Kenny arrived in Malta on the catamaran and was caught trying to smuggle in 1.2kg of cannabis.

The cannabis was found in a false compartment of a bag. The defendant pleaded not-guilty.

The defendant was being represented by Dr Alessandro Lia, and did not request bail. Magistrate Miriam Hayman presided over the court.
