Good move

My compliments to whoever came up with the good idea to improve the traffic flow in Birkirkara Road, St Julian's.

We had been complaining for ages that something had to be done to improve the traffic flow that caused long queues and great delay because of the bottleneck near what used to be known as the Belmont Hotel.

The very narrow street could not take the flow on a two lane system. Congestions ensued and there was great delay at peak hours. Residents used to ask for either a one-way system or traffic lights installed at both ends.

After many years of complaints, a one-way system was introduced and we immediately saw great improvement. Nowadays, the flow on the two lanes is excellent and drivers can pass quickly whichever way they take. Thanks once again for finding a long-awaited solution.

Now I would like to suggest another small improvement that is needed in the same street. Just before reaching this particular corner, the street is too narrow for two vehicles to pass freely on both sides because two big jeeps are constantly parked in front of a particular garage. This is obstructing the smooth traffic flow on either side.

If these 20 metres are cleared of the parked jeeps, it would be very easy to drive through with no problem. I hope that whoever is responsible for traffic flow improvements to adopt this suggestion.
