Parliamentary secretary Jose Herrera said he did not exclude slightly hitting a car when reversing, but the impact, if there was one, was so small that he did not feel it.
The parliamentary secretary was in the news this week for allegedly hitting a car and making off, but Dr Herrera brushed off the idea that he kept on driving after the accident happened.
Speaking to journalists during an MCA activity in Valletta, he said he does not recall hitting a car and, if he did, the impact was small. He said that no report had been filed at any police station that a car had been damaged by another in a hit-and-run accident.
He also denied that he was driving wrong way when the accident happened. He said that when he goes on door-to-door visits he uses his own vehicle so as not to keep his driver waiting for hours but it is normal practice for goverment drivers to pick up the ministers' cars in the evening for the following morning.
Everyone, even a government minister, could be involved in a small accident, he said.
