The China Cultural Centre in Malta was inaugurated in 2003 and from then on it sought to reach out to the Maltese people through various activities which had the principal aim to introduce China and its culture.

Among these events, one finds the CCC Partnership Programme, which includes an annual sponsored visit to a number of Maltese individuals who have contributed to the Centre. Likewise, each year, the Centre selects also some local artists in order to visit China and share their artistic perspectives.

This year, two Maltese delegates: Fiona Vella, a freelance journalist, and Anna Maria Gilson from the Education Department, were invited to visit Beijing and Shanghai through the CCC Partnership Programme. They were also joined by photographers Wistin Baldacchino and Mary Attard, and artist Ray Axiaq.

A one-hour documentary named Travelogue: The Colours of China was produced by Fiona Vella in order to share the experiences of this group in China. This documentary can be watched on Youtube on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlHIDVjYzGQ

On the other hand Ms Gilson, Mr Baldacchino, Ms Attard and Mr Axiaq organised a presentation which was followed by an artistic exhibition that includes photos and paintings related to their tour in China.

This art exhibition entitled Chinoiserie II is located at the Art Gallery of the China Cultural Centre at 173 Melita Street, Valletta. It will be open to the public until 9 January.

For more information one can contact the China Cultural Centre in Malta on 2122 5055.
