A 77-year-old cyclist residing in Marsascala was injured after allegedly hitting a Ford Escort driven by a 55 year-old man residing in Qrendi. 

The accident took place  at about 3.30pm in Triq il-Karwija, Kirkop. An ambulance was summoned on site and took the elderly man to Mater Dei Hospital for further medical treatment. 

He was later certified as suffering from grievous injuries.
