Safety and security on the road are always important, independent from the time of the year. Extra awareness and more commitment by all drivers is needed because sensibledriving avoids endangering situations both for the drivers themselves and others.

In line with this, G4S Security Services (Malta) Ltd has just enacted a number of internal initiatives within the company to encourage its employees to be more aware and responsible when driving.

"We are all responsible on the road and a little carelessness can have serious consequences and repercussions on all involved. G4S has always given the top priority to safety and security at all levels and this is why we constantly deliver refresher courses to all our drivers and personnel. In fact we have just introduced a new set of safety procedures involving all our vehicles and delivered a new training programme within the company," said Julian Dimech, Managing Director of G4S Malta.

"With approximately 8,000 vehicles across the European region and G4S employees on the road at all times of night and day, the company seeks the help and commitment of all its employees to achieve a safer environment. We care for all our employees and we want to do everything we can to ensure that all of them, especially those who drive on company business, return safely at the end of every shift. Ensuring the safest driving procedures amongst all employees is the first step in the new and improved H&S procedures triggered by G4S on an international level," added Julian Dimech.

The training programme conducted over the past weeks, involved a series of lectures with the aim in introducing safety driving awareness to all our drivers, and how best to avoid accidents.

"This initiative will undoubtedly lead to an increase in the efficiency of our operations, whilst safeguarding our employees. G4S Malta employs over 730 people, all specialized in their respective responsibilities. Yet, our commitment to safety and security is very high across all the company in fact our employees are constantly attending regular courses. Over the past year, over 300 employees of G4S have undergone specific training, through a continuous employee professional development exercise that the company has in place for its staff," concluded Julian Dimech.
