The Din l-Art Helwa Grove was launched this morning at Majjistral Park, Ghajn Tuffieha with the presence of Environment Minister Leo Brincat. The launch came on the 50th anniversary of the organization.
Minister Brincat, while lauding members of DLH for their work, said any 50th anniversary of any organization is proof of perseverance and work of its members.
At the time when Din L-Art Helwa was launched, there were only a couple of other organizations working to protect the national environment and national heritage.
Around 500 new trees were planted with the support of MiddleSea Insurance PLC and Middlesea Valletta Life PLC. The government, Mr Brincat said, is committed to afforostation.
The park’s monitoring board is committed to sustain the park and ensure more positive results. Mr Sammy Vella has been appointed chairman of the board.
